Oh man, those are fantastic! I took one look at the first one and it was like having an epiphany. Brilliant design. You can bet I will be emulating these.

WOW! What a way to start a new year! Gotta be a good sign. ;) :D

Thank you Ruard

The first is
Hook -mustad 3906b in 18
thread/abdomen- Benecchi 12/0 tobacco
tail- Pheasant tail (rooster)
rib- tag end of thread colored black (sharpie pen)
thorax peacock herl
collar-- brown hen

the second fly

Previous flies are tyed like the first pattern of this thread, just different colored threads and permanent marker.
These patterns are far from fancy, but I am hoping that they will be functional.
Hook- mustad 3906b in 18
thread/abdomen- Benecchi 12/0 tobacco
tail -Pheasant tail (rooster)
rib tag end of thread colored black (sharpie pen)
thorax- wee folk dubbing (Peacock) from http://www.flytyersdungeon.com/
collar- brown hen

third fly
Hook- mustad 3906b in 18
thread/abdomen- Benecchi 12/0 tobacco
tail -Pheasant tail (rooster)
rib tag -end of thread colored black (sharpie pen)
thorax- wee folk dubbing (Peacock) from http://www.flytyersdungeon.com/
wingcase/legs- white polypropelene colored brown with a sharpie

The rest of the patterns on this thread are just copies of the first pattern. A change in thread, permanent marker and hen hackle makes for alot of different combinations.

I will try them out as soon as I can.

Wayne, I'm sorry I'm late in saying so, but good lord, this is a beautiful stack of spiders. It's a simple technique that makes for a very compelling body, and those hackles are going to prove spot on. Nicely done, and thanks for posting all these.

Thanks for showing these!

Like the technique with the bodies.

thank you so much DUBBN. I just read a book about fly tying with 3 materials except for the hook and the thread. there he uses also the technic of coloring the tag end.

I'm slow, and far behind, which means I won't be able to comment on all flies worthy of comments. Just have to say that this fly:

is over the top when it comes to class of it's own. I'm talking of class as in built in confidence. To me, this is a stunning fly.
