Red Hackle Peacock

Nothing fancy, one of my favorite classic patterns. I like to use a well marked furnace hackle.

I hate it when I think I'm buying organic vegetables, and when I get home I discover they are just regular donuts.

I can see why. Beautiful fly. I'm sure it is a favorite of the fish too! By the way, what hook is that?

The hook is a classic IGLA Czech hook. Neat little hooks. I met a fellow tier at a show that sent me a bunch.

After a few fish, though they start to look ratty:

This one had taken almost forty trout when I took its picture.

I like to use English Grouse as the red hackle.

Great idea with the grouse. That fly looks like it has a couple more fish in it

Carl ~ I know we're not supposed to say nice things about other folks' flies any more, bit I'll be darned if I can find anything wrong with this one ;) .

Carl, a favorite pattern of mine, very well tied. There's just something about peacock that fish find hard to resist.

Redietz, All flies should look that good after 40 fish. In fact, all flies should catch at least 40 fish.

Carl & Bob - Beautiful flies, both in their perfection and joyful destruction. I love seeing the well chewed version. I have a couple special flies in my fly box, that have given me outstanding days. At the end of the day, I've retired the fly to my fly box for safe keeping. I doubt I will ever fish them again, simply because of the memories they bring back, each time I see them in my fly box.

Very special fly, Bob...
