Stefan...another cool couple. If you'll offer a better name, I'll alter the post title.

Beautifully sparse, perfectly proportioned, and tied on some sweet hooks. Great stuff, Stefan, and really nice photos, William.

Very nicely done.

I am sure a great catcher of a pattern.

These are very similar to Syl Nemes' Black and Red Dun which he tied as a stonefly pattern.

Nemes' recipe is:
Body: 2/3rd's red wool or dubbed fur; front 1/3 black wool or dubbed fur
Hackle: Iron blue dun dyed partridge
Rib: narrow silver wire

I have fished Nemes' pattern for a couple years and it has earned a permanent spot in my box. I also like orange for the red.
I hate it when I think I'm buying organic vegetables, and when I get home I discover they are just regular donuts.

These two came from that jam session when I decided to ask William for help to share ordinary quality tying. The thought struck me "now baby, or never". Hooks are Kamsan B525 and Maruto D04. Bodies are Argentinian hare hair (bit of a disappointment regarding quality, lots of "clumps and dirt", but nice colours) and hackle is my Favorite Iron Dun. Don't remember what thread I used. Last couple of weeks I have been using Veevus 14/0 a lot. Primrose (number B13) is very comfortable to use. I have a couple other colours; oddly enough white in 16/0 seems to be the strongest.

You are very encouraging and forgiving. If the quality of my tying reflects a minimum of how much I enjoy it, well...

Hans recommended a camera a while ago (Coolpix 995). I bought one from UK bay to try "do-it-yourself". I have a couple of flymphs tied by the authors of the Swedish Wingless Wet Bible. I also have some of their books (for one of them they even made the paper themselves) that would be nice to share. My Instamatic is useless for that purpose. I don't want to take advantage of William Jr too much. He probably has school to fill his hours. Maybe I can send him the camera and he can fill it with pictures and return it? I also could post a picture of my tube/valve amplifier that beautifies my music. I could pester the forum. Wait a minute, I am doing it already!

Stefan - Please pester away! I, for one, genuinely enjoy your posts. Your love of tying comes thru clearly in your creations. ;)

Stefan,
I'm enjoying these posts, thanks to William's assistance. Your tying is restrained, and classic. Very fine.

Tell us more about the book you mentioned, the Swedish wingless wet bible.

dd, Howdy;

Talk about your basic stubborn "I'll get this published no matter what it takes."
self reliant types... made their own paper ... ??? That in itself would be a story
worth publishing.
I'm with Lance, I would like also hear more about the Swedish wingless wet Bible.

Stefan, I'm glad you were able to get a new camera, but I'd be disappointed if I were not able to shot more of your flies. It was a pleasure to do it and I would happily shoot as many and as often as you care to send them. There are a large number of us who have taken the plunge in the past couple years to shooting our flies to share, so there is no shortage of info if you need it. Either way, it's fantastic to be able to see your flies and expand the interesting conversations we already have about fishing and tying them.

I have a couple more of yours to share, then you'll have to send another round, or set up a tripod for yourself. Shooting them yourself is fun to do, but like I said, I'd be disappointed to be out of the loop.

William, I would never want to make you disappointed (I assure you the camera was old and probably not working so I have to send you at least one more fly). I suppose the rest of you are old enough to be accustomed (?) to disappointment so I don't bother that much...

The book I was referring to as the bible is Gunnar Johnson's and Anders Forsling's "Flymfer och andra mjukhacklade flugor". They have produced a few others in limited editions that I hope to be able to show eventually. I am afraid I will not be up to the task regarding 3D-quality and reproducing their watercolors but you could get a glimpse. I'm no Stendalen. I will make a post about it in the Cabin when I'm ready.

As already mentioned - you really are encouraging. You almost make me believe you, and I am hard to fool.
