Lil' Dorothy (Old Hat var.)
Didn't want to miss the bus on this one. With everyone posting their variations, I had to come up with one. I didn't have most of the materials for the original. I need to put them on my list. I tried a few different combinations and will try them all on the water. This just happens to be the one that my gut says "fish it". I went off of Mark's description and with a little creative license....

I hate it when I think I'm buying organic vegetables, and when I get home I discover they are just regular donuts.

Re: Lil' Dorothy (Old Hat var.)
Nice work.
How does that synthetic yarn "wet" up? I discovered (by accident) the other night the orange wool (90% wool 10% nylon) I had been using, takes on a whole "new" life when smeared with a dab of Gink.
The Polar Bear is a nice touch, I like the loft it gives the thorax.

The yarn darkens ever so lightly and has a more translucent look. I would equate it with antron. It is very much like a fine antron.

Carl, the polar bear is a nice touch. I love seeing all these Lil Dorothy's and look forward to a summer of stream reports from everyone putting these to good use.

So do I as we have had a couple of days of huge rain and local waters are blown, there are but five days of the season left- not sure if Lil Dorothy will claim any more NZ brown trout scalps this season.William Anderson wrote:Carl, the polar bear is a nice touch. I like seeing all the Lil' Dorothy's as well.
Maybe we need a pinned Lil' Dorothy thread where we can post variations and "scalps" as Jeff so eloquently put it.
