Caddis pupa

Post by JohnP » Sat Jun 08, 2013 3:06 pm

I was inspired by DUBBN's excellent caddis patterns to try my hand at some.
Hook: Scud, size 12
Thread: White for abdomen, brown for remainder of fly.
Body: Orange d-rib, medium.
Rib: Single strand of pearl crystal flash.
Hackle: Natural Indian hen back,
Thorax: Dark brown SLF dubbing.

Oh man, that is a "catchy" looking fly. Great stuff, John.

Very nice John, this should fish well for you. ;)
Nice work in borrowing a friends pattern and using it to influence your own.

Thanks for the kind comments. It does not show up that well in the photo, but the rib adds a nice, subtle flash to the body. I am looking forward to trying to tempt some Lochsa River cutthroats with it. :)

John your crystal flash really compliments the body. Nice fly.
