hackle: jay ( In FF&Ft there was an article about the dotterel and jay was a good sub)
I used the hackle just aftrer the head (A) because the hackles (B) broke several times I tried them.

Thank you for posting this Ruard. I just recently purchased a European Jay skin, with the intention of using it for soft hackle flies. I was not aware that it could be used as a substitute for Dotterel. I appreciate the information.
Lovely fly, by the way.
PS - those cheek feathers underneath the beak also look very interesting (the ones with the light colored tips and dark centers). Very interesting.
