Ken - Yes. I reinforced the body hackle with the tying thread. I do a lot of reverse tying, so materials counter wrap and are reinforced with each step. The dubbed body is wrapped backwards, from the eye towards the bend. The body hackle is palmed back to the tail, the thread is wrapped forward in tight open spiral turns. This reinforces the hackle, and buries the wraps into the dubbed body. Nice and durable construction. I know many folks use a wire rib for the forward wraps, but I sometimes use thread for a more drab (hopefully natural) look. Wire rib is probably the best, but I chose the working thread instead.
