Mark demonstrated this method during his tying demonstration and I got to see the fly first hand. One of the things I found striking about the finished fly, was how "alive" if looked. The hackles come out at a range of different lengths and the butt ends add a natural look to the thorax area. It created the impression that the legs were in motion. A technique definitely worth trying.

I have used the hackle down the stem approach but this is new to me. going to give it a go.

A little patience and practice and I can see anyone doing this technique. It should not take you long before you have it down.
