The hooks are Kamasan B525 course fishing hooks which over your side of the pond is the Daiichi 1480 Limerick Dry Fly Hook. Kamasan and Daiichi are the same company! I have been using these hooks for about ten years now as they offer me the right profile and weight. Interestingly about three years ago I gave some of these hooks to fly dresser over here who is well known for tying North Country flies. He didn't like them and told me they were not suitable for North Country spiders. Rarely for me I kept my mouth shut and resisted the temptation to smack him in the mouth. I just consoled myself with the knowledge that he is from the southern counties of England and knows absolutely nothing about North Country spiders and what is worse he can’t even fish! He is now raving about and selling Alec Jackson “North Country Hooks” on his website; these are of course the exact same hooks as the B525s which I gave him 3 years earlier. Some people are beyond help!

Not the first time a name is attached to a bog standard readily available product and it becomes a must have product - we must be a very gullible type of customer

So when are the skirmish lines going to form?

Beautiful flies! Is English Grouse the standard sub for "brown owl" on the Spanish Needle these days? All to the good, no doubt, but I can't help but be curious as to what properties a "hoolet" feather might have had in the water.

Lovely hackle work and beautiful photography; the book should be a good one.

I am fixin'ta get to some shows, just that the shows are far far[size]awaaaaaay,
I'm on a fixed income and most are scheduled for the mid to end of the month. Short side of payday. I WILL get to them,
some of them. Thought about Boise, but couldn't swing it.
One comming up first part of April at the Salt Palace. Missed it last year as I was already back in Ohio when It happened.

hank.....how far are you from Lewiston, Idaho? We'll be there on the 24th, 25th and 26th of March for the Western Idaho Fly Fishing Expo/Western Rocky Mountain Council (FFF) Conclave. It's a double show with the local FFF Affiliated Club and the FFF WRM Council. Your state and that state border right........? Nuff said? Jeeze, by that time of year you could sleep in the car i'd bet.....if nessessary. Trust me, you wouldn't regret it. Few bucks for gas, eat at Micky D's.......no problem. Hope to see you there.

Lewiston, is further away than Boise. I'm 100 miles South and a tad East of SLC (Salt Lake City). Just did the Goggle Earth from here to there 731 miles maybe 12 1/2 hrs driving. One way
That's about 3 tanks of diesel for the round trip at some where near $120.00+ to fill it up (42 gal. tank). That alone is more than my lot rent and a majority of my elect./water/sewage/ and trash. Budget busterrrrrrrrr. Boise is only about 280 some odd miles closer.....slightly more that I get for 1/2 tank of diesel.
Maybe, ............ if the Judge decieds in my favor and I can sell 30 acres before then..............................

Denver is about the same distance goin' the other way.......

Your flies are superb. Very delicate and light looking, they have an almost ephemeral quality to them. Well done and greatly admired.
