Ray, these are remarkable. I have a list of flies I really want in my box. (you guys (women included) keep posting stuff that I now "need") These are so well tied, I don't expect them to shine like this, but they look really effective. I see using that feather in a number of ways, especially if you dye some of them. I've tied a few emergers with wool recently, but I like the way you've used it in that first fly better than my dubbing method. That second fly is my favorite of the two, partly because it looks like a killer, and partly because it's just so cleanly put together. nicely done.

VERN-O - I wish I could take you up on the offer, but I need to get my car worked on tomorrow. I will probably spend most of my day at the auto dealer. One of these days we will manage to go fishing together... ;)

William - The dubbing body was done with a Wasatch Mitch's Bobbin Whirl. If you haven't tried one, I can highly recommend it. It makes nice spiky dubbed bodies a breeze. Just form a dubbing loop, insert the hook and capture the end of the loop. You can then let go of the bobbing and get your dubbing sorted out, using both hands if you need to. Then grab the bobbin, slant it at an angle, opening up the thread loop. Insert the desired amount of dubbing and twist it tight. The dubbed thread chenille can then be wrapped forward just like wrapping normal thread. Pick it out with a bodkin after and your done. Quick and easy peasy.

Norm - Thanks for the tip. I bet many bird skins would have similar feathers once I start looking for them. They work very nicely on these little flies.
