DUBBN, Howdy;
Don't know about the rivers runnin' up hill ...
I have seen the water part around the feet of a Morman Elder as he was wet wadding once..
stepped out of the stream and his feet were dry as when he started

Heres a pic of the PMD Emerger I used yesterday. The fly in the pic is a size 14, the flys yesterday were 16's.
Hook - Mustad 3906B, size 16- 12
Thread - Coats & Clark Lemon
Tail - Speckled Hen Cape
Abdomen - Coats & Clark Lemon (twisted)
Thorax - Light Chocolate Rabbit fur
Collar - Brown Hen Hackle
It takes about 2 minutes to whip this pattern out and have it fish worthy. I spent 10 minutes this morning trying to get it to compare with the patterns Tie2fish has been posting lately. I'm not close yet, but I am proud of the tie. If I want it bad enough, I will get my tying skills on par with the standards of this forum. I think it's called practice, dedication, and hard work?

Poor guy is right. He passed away in a plane crash in the late 90's.

Wayne - Lovely pattern and you have done a great job photographing the fly. Question - do you respool the Coat and Clark thread, or does it fit in a regular bobbin? The next time I am at JoAnne Fabrics I plan to look for the Lemon colored thread. I'd like a few of these flies for "testing purposes".

Thanks Ray. The C&C thread comes in two sizes that I know of Large and small. The small is fits a regular bobbin with no problems.
I became acquainted with the thread after fishing the San Juan river in New mexico quite a few years ago. The then "go to" pattern was this fly...

I bought the thread and still tie and fish the Yong Specials from time to time. Especially in the Winter. I tyed my PMD pattern with the thread as I dont have silk as yet. I was trying to imitate the flys Tie2fish has been posting lately. Seriously, it is a brand new pattern. I tyed it an hour before I left to go fishing yesterday morning. I tyed 3 of them in about 15 minutes, and they looked like it, but they were affective. It was my plan to wax the thread first, but being groggy eyed I forgot.

Wayne ~
I'm sure that your flies will catch as many or more fish than mine, but I'm flattered that you like what I've done.
