I believe there are a couple of people on Ebay who sell the YLI Silk. I have been wanting to try it, but have not ordered any yet.

That UK source will give you some idea of the colours available.
I found this American source with different colour names. I hope it is of
some use.

I'm in the mood, so I'll tie some Flies with YLI, see what you think.
I'll give my comments, as usual.

Thought for sure I'd see letemgo or Willowhead respond. Willow is deep into the FFF conclave and I'll bet letmego hasn't seen the post yet. Just a hunch. I like the idea of having several suppliers to pick from. Thanks for the additional link. Time to look at them all.

Well I tied the flies ok, all five of them, but I have had trouble getting
decent pictures. This was the best one.

Greenwell Spider
Hook: #14 s/e
Silk: Dandelion #214 YLI 100 Silk, waxed.
Body: Tying silk, flat, well waxed clear wax.
Rib: Tying silk, well twisted.
Hackle: Furnace Hen.
I shall have to re-photograph the others.

I have not used YLI silk, so I cannot provide feedback.

I've tied with YLI 100, it's very similar to Pearsalls. A little rougher finish and not as high a breaking strength but not that noticable when tying.

What Wayneb says is correct, I have not finished with this mini-project.
I've got this stinker of a cold and all I want to do at the moment, is wallow
in self-pity. In between coughing, spluttering and cursing vilely, I think I have
sorted out my photographic problems. That Greenwell Spider is much better than
that rather crappy picture shows. Give me a couple of days of whining and I'll
produce some better results.
