Your right. There is a slight twist for a bit of strength. On this size a full twist or other material in the twist adds too much bulk.

Roadkill - On a little bigger fly I usually add a wire rib or often don't even use thread and tie it completely with a fine diameter copper wire.

Ha, you've made a strong case for Teeny PT's before...question: does the color darken much as it wets-out?
