Carl, I like your take on the Turton patterns. Especially the first one. These are a great contribution to Donald's project and a nice set.

Excellent, I happen to have some light olive. Otherwise, I think I'm with William in calling Fly #1 "Best in Show"--you've a way with purple accents, as in your "steelhead flymph" pattern.

At first I really liked the cow-dung. I think it is a great generalist pattern, I know it was designed as a specific match, but the color scheme could work with a lot of foodstuffs. The more I look at the brown gnat the more it grows on me. It is one of those patterns, looking at the material list only, you would probably pass up but I really like the way the colors interact with the light brown thread base. Just very buggy. I have added a few of each pattern to my box.

Yes, very impressive flies. What hook did you use for the brown gnat?

I used a tiemco 101 in a #16. It's a very wide gap hook with a short shaft. I don't see many tie with them but I really like it.

It looks more like the grub hook 2454 (?) or the kamasan 100

Yes sir, thank you, I did have the number wrong it is the Tiemco 111, not 101.

Sorry for the confusion, I wrote it down wrong on my hook box and it cascaded from there. Its not a continuous bend hook. It has a short straight shank.

Sorry I meant the 2457, but the 111 is indeed a very nice hook as far as I can see, never used it.
