WA,
When one can take a pattern that is well known and tied by many and of which thousands of representations can be found on the worlds largest reference and tying "book" of the world wide web, to be able to show examples that show the "wow" factors of style, form, shape and colour as well as you do sir, is an honour to behold.
Wonderful ties and I have to try and find some of those hooks here!

CB, I usually give the hook a little push after locking it in the jaws. I just don't like tying on a crooked hook. Although, I don't think I've ever remembered to gently offset them once tied. I probably should. Do you have an aversion to an offset hook? (discussion for daringduffer's Hooks thread.)

Yes, but only because I'm 'spergy (as the kids say).
Practically speaking I think a bit of an off-set really helps hook-ups, especially in heavily dressed dries tied on small irons--moreso when you mash your barbs. If I were still fishing, say, #16 Stimmies, I would definitely offset the barb a bit to compensate for the short throat of a C53 or TMC200. It also might be a good idea for "spearpoint" designs like the TMC206 or Hans' Grips: sexy armatures to be sure, but I'm not sure they really hold despite having a short "lever."

I'm with you. The hare's ear soft hackle is the one fly I would not be without. VERY nice rendition of it that you posted. I may have to start tying them on your hook!

Regarding CB's query about the holding power of the barbless Grip 14723BL, what has been your experience compared to to mini-barbs like its sister 14703?
On another string, William and I had fretted together over the potential problem of barbless flies falling out of the felt-paged fly wallets that we are experimenting with.

I have been fishing barbless only for close to four decades now, and am none the worse for it
I think felt paged fly wallets look very cool, and are totally useless IMNSHO. They are rust buckets.
Plus, to your point, they would be losing my barbless flies
