Hank, I normally go with a tail as long as the body and the hackle to mid point of the tail as my rough measurement. This way I remove all the variances in hook styles.

Thanks Donald. I actually use a very similar pattern as a damsel nymph. I will mix natural, greens and brown ostrich to get the shade I want. I add a small dark nickel bead head to get it to swim the way I want. Only damsel I use.

I have always liked your patterns and techniques Oldhat. I have alot of ostritch, and I should be using more of it. Maybe your pattern will be the kick in the pants I need.
