Might have to see what's in store for me and fuz-butt er, Rascal.
Ya know, havin' a home with wheels really can be fun, never know where we might end-up.
Bought a boat in Mountian Home, Ar. once, back in '04. That was about 5 years before I got
re-intrested in fly fishin. I was busy chasin' Crappie back then.
So, you're just East of Snuffy Smith's back yard ...

There you go, Hank!
Profiling again! Do you realize you just described most likely 75 plus percent of the male folks, ages 8 and older, living South of Interstate 70 and in between the Mississippi River the State of Oklahoma!

And if that is only figuren the State of Missouri, it be a lot of fellows to hook up with to go fishin!

While most all of those fish, most ain't thinkin catch and release!
Does make for some fine Sunday fixins, if'n you can scare up some pickled green matos, cornbread and some that cabbage with red onions slaw! Then we wash it down with a cold beer!
Now I'm a hungry feller!!!!

After spending some $150,000,000 of Federal Stimulous Funds to conduct this Fact Checking, I would like to make the following Public Service announcement:
After some review, I would like to clarify for all unknowing persons!
Snuffy Smith is a cartoon character that was introduced into a comic strip, in 1934, then titled "Barney Google" as written by Billy DeBeck! This occurred when Barney and his horse visited the North Carolina mountains and met a volatile, equally diminutive moonshiner named Snuffy Smith. The introduction took place when Hillbilly humor was extremely popular at the time, (as Al Capp was proving with Li'l Abner ). The strip increasingly focused on the southern Appalachian hamlet of "Hootin’ Holler", with Snuffy as the main character. The mountaineer locals are extremely suspicious of any outsiders, referred to as "flatlanders" or even worse, "revenooers" (Federal Revenue agents).
So to clarify, Hank and I were only "funnin' one another by referencing the character to resemble the male folks of Southern Missouri! Though some may agree with our reflection and reference, I wanted to clarify that there really is not a person, here at FlymphForum.com, named Snuffy Smith.
Thank You!

Flitrap's idea is used often in the world of multi-rigging in such places as Montana and Colorado. It enables the angler to change flies and leaders quickly. I've seen a set up of Butting/ swivel/leader, leader/swivel/tippet. I have even seen a tippet with swivel hooked to the fly and it caught! My feeling about fly fishing has always been a free for all, unless you are working on one discipline. I love it all. My only concern with very tiny swivels is the "latch" if you use this type. I'm afraid it would snap open prematurely before I could land, so I'd suggest you go with the completely closed system.

You are correct on the choice of Swivels! I use only the the tiny ones that you have to tie on to both ends! There is no "latching" to come loose and less "hinging" with these as well!
The use of several such swivels, along a leader can allow a tappered leader to be built in with a variable weight (based on swivels used!!) for the effects of a "sink tips" to be built! I use this idea for bigger waters where I'm needing to drop into deep "plunges", say at the end of a chute. The leader will cast much more "normal" as your weight is spread out much like "shooting heads" and will tend to sink more evenly and to result in a more level retrieve, even on an upstream pull! Great also where you have fishes running deeper in a lake(Trouts or green trouts!)!
By building the smaller weight along the length of your leader you maintain more direct contact with the fly, not having that "hing" affect caused by a single weight! Comes in a bit handy as my reflexes and my focus becomes challenged with "elder-izm"!
Have fun! Be safe!
FliTrap
Warning: Casting weighted leaders are not suggested for them there lighter wt. rods. They's also work better with a slower, open looped cast. Always wear eye protection (specially when fishing with a buddy near by!) I take no responsibility for injury or damage to equipment, though if this idea assists remotely in improving your fish catch, I take full credit there!
