You are on something with these types of flies. I know the fish here would gobble these right up! (plus they look so COOL)

Hank - The dubbed bodies are pretty straight forward. The key to forming the body is to dub the thread fairly thin, and then firmly pinch twist it onto the thread. In the rear of the hook, I use just one layer of dubbing (wrapped forward by 1/3rd of the shank length). In the middle section, I dub the thread in the same way, but make the dubbing noodle longer. In the middle third, I wrap one layer forward, reverse direction, wrapping back over the center dubbing and then forward again (picture three layers of dubbing - which fattens the center section, helping to form the body taper). The front third is dubbed with a single layer of dubbing (helps narrow the front section so the hackle lays properly). Once the body is formed, I then give it a bit of a hair cut. When trimming the body, I lay the scissor blades parallel to the body, trimming stray hairs to help accentuate the taper.
