I was just trying that the other day. It has been so long since I tied a dry that I was getting frustrated with the results, but wanted a few patterns for Roscoe.

My thought process....Hmmm. Maybe a few dries for Roscoe.
Sulphers, BWO, caddis, genralists.
I'll start with the caddis...elk hair, x-caddis, cripples.....
Wings to long, that's not snug enough, hackle looks like crap. I don't have enough dry hooks.

Recommendation: Take Han's up on the supermarket idea, avoid the dries, and stay out of the fly shops.

I stocked my fly box with a couple dozen drys three or four years ago. I have used maybe three since. Added some Griffith Gnats this Summer. I am probably stocked up for twenty years.

Honestly, my story is the same DUBBN. There might even be some decomposition going on in my dry box.

I have so many wingless wets I really don't need to tye any for about five years. I also have the same amount of drys and nymphs. I just bought 2K vintage hooks on Ebay and now I just sit here trying to figure out what I'm gonna tye. I have also been doing some mohair blending to come up with different dubbing.

When I fish a fly I don't even carry it with me on the next trip. It just gets thrown in a box to wait until the bugs eat it or I give it away.
