On pages 17 and 18 of the Spider Guide in the reference section of the flymph forum is the Henthorne Purple which uses a mallard upper wing covert for the hackle. Bill

Following this link http://jasonsmalley.photoshelter.com/im ... X_CsPJBF94 you will find an incredible number of interpretations of known patterns starting with Harold Howorth's Henthorn Purple.

(The photography is much better than the tying, but you easily see how you would want to change that aspect.)

It would be incredible if we could have something like that on this forum; an album of flies with links to the actual posts! The standard here is so high, both in tying and photographing. Just a thought.

Just saw these, Jon, and I am blown away! Excellent tying with a difficult medium.
