Carl, I was thinking the same thing. In turbid conditions, I usually go for a wire-bodies soft-hackle with some bling, but this will remain higher without the wire. I don't think I have this color...but that will have to change. I like the Sulky Slivers a lot. This fly with the fine spacing is beautiful. Very cool fly.

I only wanted to try a couple colors. This color really stood out and I chose it over the gold, copper and similar. It has that amber color to it that I like.

Regarding the bobbin, didn't gudebrod have a long bobbin to fit the spools that they used? I usually just spin them onto a smaller bobbin with a bobbin spooler that I bought at walmart. I'll dig around and see if I have one and load a pic of the gudebrod bobbin.

That would be one way Hank. Haven't seen that before. However, I'm not sure I would want to use a bobbin at all with the Sulky Slivers.

Carl, I have wound some of the Sulky material onto a standard size empty spool and tyed with it using a bobbin. I was impressed with how well it worked. The Sulky material is very strong, and lays down nice and smooth. Nice stuff.

I've never heard of "sulky silver" before but the effect you've got in the abdomen of that gorgeous fly is very cool.

Thanks Boris. It's just a very fine flat tinsel (coated polyester) material.
I see it a lot at sewing stores. But noticed you can find it at Performance Flies on the web and other places probably.

Boris, any "Spotlight" stores near you or in town by work?
Check out their sewing thread sections, if they are anything like the same stores here you will find lots of fun new materials- cheaper than tackle store prices!
