Otter, that is a great looking fly. I can certainly imagine that it would fool a few fish!

I owe Mike for leading me to long rods and horsehair lines. I think I'm going to owe him (and you) for that soft wing flies, too.

You don't owe me anything, they are mikes work and I am glad that he has allowed me to share my tying of them which I hope does them justice.

They have all the attributes that scream great design - easy to tie... I now have to learn how to fish them properly and that will take years. :)

I first posted on these style of softwings early last year. I have had some success with them but have not fished as much the season just gone as I would have liked. Hence they have not been given serious testing by me on my local river.

They abolutely screamed "fish" the first time i tied them and even on a few occasions I fished them they took some nice trout.

If mike is so inclined I would really appreciate his insights into this style of fly and how best to present them.

Hi Otter,
Yes, after my own experiences this year, I could see how this pattern could be an absolute killer.

thanks for 'bumping it up' - will have a go at tying that up.

Mike!
Thanks for posting these words!.. No horn blowing there; simply what so many need to hear but will sit there and squeeze their buttocks together with reading it!
Love your "straight out" words. I feel grounded in realizing how much I have to learn!
