Theory overload Jim, that would be my perception.

and a bit of groundbaiting thrown in for good measure.
The only thing I can say with certainty is that I have a leak on the left stocking foot of my waders.... not at all desirable when the water is quite cold.

Why is it always the left foot that leaks first.
Forgive my interruption, the Celtic blood in me enjoys good old fashioned fisty cuffs behind the pub, even a sly punch from a bystander with a score to settle is par for the course and essential to determining who buys the pints after a few bloody noses.
Excuse my lack of tact, but in light of the recent departure of Mark Willow Romero I think we should all take a little break from too much theorising and go listen to a little jazz.... and I'll go fix my waders and as willow would have said ' Ya Dig '

Hi Mike,
If you want my evidence then come out to Montana and you will see the evidence first hand. If you can not, then you will have to take my word on it, if my word is worth anything.

If you have any evidence then I will take your word for it. You have not presented any. I don't think you can.
Believing something is not evidence. Also, in order to use any purported relationship of UV factors to artificial flies, you would need to know what that relationship is. This is at the present time impossible, because there is no known relationship.
What you and Mr.Curry have presented here is pure speculation. There is nothing at all wrong with that, as long as it is presented as speculation. This particular book is being presented as a "Scientific Breakthrough" an "Essential part of the angler's armory", etc etc etc. It is nothing of the kind. It is pure speculation without any evidence at all.
I have asked Mr.Curry repeatedly to provide examples of how his contentions might be used to design a successful artificial fly. He has consistently prevaricated and failed to answer a single question, resorting to abuse instead.
There may well be a connection, indeed I spent quite a bit of time trying to find one myself, but at the moment if there is a connection IT IS NOT KNOWN.
It is extremely difficult to discuss speculation, it does not have to have any relation at all to reality. That is why it is speculation.
I have done my level and honest best to present my views on this matter because I was specifically asked to do so. I see no point in any further discussion unless somebody actually comes up with some evidence.

Hi Mike,
Just a quick and brief word from me. It appears nobody proved anything either way with regards to the UV thing. Therefore, all doors are open, and the possibility exists that UV light, might, indeed figure in. We just haven't gone that far, yet. Speculation, Yes, but often times speculation leads to definitive answers. Just my 2 cents.

All right enough is enough. Mike if you do not agree with Reed's findings OK we get it. We are all of free mind here, others, myself included happen to think that there is validity in Reed's findings and we would like to hear more about it. Those who have just found out abot these findings probably would like more information about it so they can come to THEIR OWN conclusions. You have voiced your opposition often and frequently and at times direpsectfully.
I would think EVERYONE, including Reed as he has said as much, repects and values the iknowledge that you provide on this forum . Please do not post any more on the UV subject and just make your case on other things that you may disagree with. If you so strongly disagree with Mr. Curry's book and findings I suggest you write a book to state your opposition to the matter.
I rather enjoy having Reed share his thoughts on this forum and I would like him to continue to do so. Please respect my wishes.
Respectfully,
Jim

I heartily agree with Jim. I've been trying to put a stop to this stuff. There is no need for it for God's sake. We are discussing FISHING---FISHING. It's not rocket science, or whether the world will end, tomorrow. There is nothing wrong with disagreement if it it done in a respectful way--without attacking the other person.
I want everyone concerned to take a moment to reflect upon the fact that life is way too short to behave like this. Believe me, I realize this more and more every day. Cool down.
