Mate, would have been better if it were your rod and not one of those old beaters that James sent over. Was blowing it's mammaries off and the water still discoloured a bit- plus I feel those G.T.'s might have been a bit heavy for the fine tip.

Soon though I hope!

After seeing the pictures of the swimming fly, it has steelhead written all over it. I'll be adding a few to the steelhead wallet. Yes, I still use a leather and sheep wool fly wallet. Classy flies deserve a classy carrying case. Great pic of the local tasting a Goat's Toe as well.

Thanks everyone.

I do no different or contribute no more than any of the members here, most of you give way more, that is all part of what makes this a wonderful place to visit :D . What I can do is share some stories of our Spring/ Summer fishing season as you head into Fall/Winter, share a little of my world and keep you all interested as some of your fishing opportunities wane with the seasons.

Well I found a Steelhead tester for a few of these flies, be interesting to see if the locals over there like them.

On the bad news front...... the major donor of materials for this fly passed away last week. Seems some construction work was being carried out right next door to the Peacock flight of the aviary where my parents keep the big bronze bird. They were using a petrol powered concrete cutting saw within feet of the bird. Thoughts are the bird became stressed and spent the day screeching at the saw (as only Peacocks can for those that have heard them). Vets were called, once my parents found the obviously sick bird, but despite best efforts he did not recover. Vets are doing an autopsy, I am unsure what happens to the remains...... especially the tail!
He is going to be replaced, with another bronze at my request! In the meantime I am guarding my meagre remaining supply.

Jeff - Sorry to hear that the peacock was so stressed by the commotion, resulting in his death. If it is any comfort, I've put some of his feathers to good use... I use it sparingly. True bronze peacock herl is very hard to come by in these parts. I only use the herl you sent me for special flies.
