I have that book too and it the pattern for the Geehi is incorrect as a number of other patterns.
Perhaps we sent all the duds over to New Zealand

That is handy to know that one of the more concise Australian pattern books to ever go to print has a lot of misrepresentation.

Do you the origns of the word "Geehi"?

Boris, I am not sure.
I have done a little research and still have not come up with any information.
At first I thought it might be an aboriginal name but I have not been able to find any comparison.
The Geehi River and the Swampy Plains Creek (a river really) both run into Khancoban Reservoir (part of the new Snow Mountain Scheme).
The area was frequented by Mountain Cattle men in the early 1900's but who named the river I am unsure but I would think that my original view is correct.
Most of the web references take you to tourist sites and not to any specific information.
I will keep digging as it has intrigued me.

I wrote to the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage. THis is their answer:
We’ve searched everywhere and unfortunately can’t find anything to identify the true meaning of “Geehi” – sorry! I have forwarded your email to our Khancoban office as they look after the Geehi picnic area so am hoping they may be able to assist,
The search goes on.
