Hi Ron,

you don't have to spend much. These things are also very useful for taking pictures of your flies. Basically all they are is a camera mounted on some sort of optical system. The better the optical system, and the better the camera, then the better the results. You can make a perfectly adequate one quite easily yourself, lots of ways to do it, pick one you like;

Very cheap, very quick, very effective, and you may even have the stuff lying around! ;

There are lots more if you do a search. I built my first one a long time ago and used it for a long time, ( Before USB was even thought of! ).

If you make one like this you need the scanning software for it. Here it is, it will, work with more or less any USB cam;

This is about the easiest, works fine;

How to make a digital microscope

here is the microscope;

but of course it is not very powerful or comfortable.

all it means Ariel, is that your gonna have one hell of a hard time borrowing...........but that could be a blessing. ;) always best to pay cash for vehichles anyway........if you can't, you don't need a new one............although.....when payin' cash for a car.....it's best to actually use plastic.....so you get allllllllll those "points".....(that's a flight right there), then pay the bill at the end of the month. every car dealer, new or used, is a crook.....you gotta beat 'em at their own game.....

Mike, first thing popped into my head when i saw your set up, was my old home recording studio i use to have.......sold all the keyboards, drum machines, guitar synths, all MIDI recording software and computer, along with all outboard signal altering devices (FX machines), and other synths, mics, DAT machine, and everything..............spent all that money on materials, hooks, books, artwork, rods, DVD's, and all the rest of it............was a pretty smooth transition, and perfect for retiring at 50. :D when i hung out the "Gone Fishin'" sign.....it was figurtive, litteral, and permanate. 8-)

I use a compact version now. Much easier than all the old separate racks etc. This records and masters directly to hard disc, and I can also use various DAW programs etc on my main computers.

Here"s a song for you, ( a cappella), it was a live recording on stage, and unfortunately the sound engineer cut the first verse off.

The Kielder Hunt.

The two guys on the refrain are a couple of German lads I sang with. That was a live recording in a fairly large venue and unfortunately the first verse was accidentally deleted.

I was having a chat with some people about rod specifications. Thinking about some of the replies afterwards I wrote this;

I got them awful CCS blues,
sitting drinking whisky, and looking at my shoes,
listenin´ to these conflictin´ views
averting my eyes, from the wide open skies,
and trying not to hear the lonesome cries...

here we go again...
worrying about intrinsic power, and ERN,
the poor forgotten souls still on AFTM,
they are lost, they will never learn to cast,
just forlorn, and living in the past...

No use cryin nights.....
maybe have to hang up my tights,
give up my search for adventure and new sights,
prance no more on didymo,
ain´t gonna fish no mo´

This board is killin´ me....
Don´t need the hassle, just want to be free,
leaving my flies up in some lonely tree,
following my footsteps, along some remote road,
don´t want no trouble, don´t want no heavy load.

Just one more drink.....
No need to hurt my head and think,
just cast my flies, before the trout can blink,
Go my way in peace, and live my joyful life,
forget the worries, techie specs, and other strife.

Cut me a hazel stick....
cast a fly, and catch a trout, now there´s a trick,
no need for measurement, just be sly and quick,
who needs all this thought and useless strain?
to catch a fish with hardly half a brain?

I just got them CCS blues......

:D Very good,
