Recently been on a run with wings, & digging the elegant Clyde design, which to my eye seems to make perfect sense in simulating small mayflies. I'd like to tie a version of this design to match the #17 red quills that hatch from my home water. Already morphing the design in my head... perhaps a clump wing of hair or feather fibers...
Beautiful, beautiful flies.

The swap flies are all sorted and ready for shipment. They should go out in tomorrows mail.

Flies arrived today in noon's mail. Very nicely done guys.
Now for the added stuff. I recognize the goose biots but the sticky stuff wrapped up in aluminum..... I wasn't sure if it was for smoking or dubbing. I'm guessing it's a tying wax as opposed to dubbing. Ray, would you clarify as I'm a wax newbie.

Nope. Not for smoking.
Bill - The aluminum wrapped nugget is cobblers wax, which was made by our friend Eric (Smuggler). He sent me a piece with his swap flies and asked me to share it with each of the participants. Eric made the wax himself. I used this wax to tie my swap flies. It gives the Pearsall's primrose silk a lovely olive cast, perfect for the blue dun pattern. Give it a try. I think you will like the results.
The goose biots are from me. I threw a couple sets into each pack. Hopefully you can find a use for them.

Swap fly package was waiting when I got home yesterday after a visit with my friend Jack, but I put off opening it until this morning. Wow! Like Christmas AM for a dedicated tyer ... a virtual hatch of artfully crafted traditional patterns the like of which I've not seen outside of Greenwell's boxes. Truly well done, folks. And some major thanks to Ray for hosting this creative swap, not to mention his generosity with "extras".

My thoughts exactly. (In fact, I was going to use the Christmas metaphor, which is why I quoted T2F).
