Coq de Leon and Olive 1120 - just a variation

I really like these Daiichi 1120's. Very sturdy hook. This version uses mole for the thorax.

Another in what is rapidly becoming an extended family of beautifully conceived flies. If we had known that being a swapmeister would unleash your creative juices like this, you would have been nominated a long time ago :D . Keep it up, William.

Lovely variation William. The curved hook is a nice touch.

William,
Wow! Killer pattern friend! I can see this one firmly anchored in the scissors of my speckled darlings at the pond! Bravo! I can't wait for the next installment!

Really nice looking tie. I agree with Ray about the curved hook. I tie a lot of my soft hackles on a curved hook. Don't know if it matters to the Brookies, but I like the looks of them.

You really are on roll just now William.
Reversing the hackle on that fly would make an interesting
Alpine (Tenkara) pattern.

Thanks again everyone, I appreciate the encouragement more than you know.

Doug, I've never fished on a pond, which I fully intend to when the oppotunity presents itself. How do you fish small softhackles on a pond. I'm just very curious...and I'll need to know at some point.

Chase, I miss fishing for brookies. plunge pools and quick riffles are what I started on and I love those 3 mile hikes straight up hill.

Hank, you're beyond that point now. You're well on your way. Its time to dig in and reach that 1000 fly mark, then you'll never have that thought again. (and I know you were kidding.)

Donald, Thank you again. You're right about the Tankara flies. I've tried them yet, but like all things, they are on my list. I'm just dying to get to some water. This weather better turn soon.

Thanks to everyone. I am just glad to have my camera out and have the vise sitting out (at my own peril with my kids and their friends in the house.) It has been out more than usual. I hope I'm not posting too many, too often.

I really appreciate everyone's comments.
