Orange Fish Hawk Variant
Described by Ray Bergman in Trout. Stumbled upon it in a text by Mark Libertone (
http://flyanglersonline.com/features/ol ... art402.php). His favourite fly, so I thought I should have these in my box
. Should be badger hen hackle and gold tinsel if you would like to follow the original, here Grouse that I think goes well with the orange body and Peacock/Orange UNI Mylar (Orange at the tag end then Peacock for the rib). Hook is Mustad R70 size 12.

I like that fly very much, and the photo is excellent as well.

Colourful, flashy, and seasonally appropriate. (Happy Halloween, and Feliz Dia de los Muertos.) The light markings on the hackle echo the body colouration.
Could be a year-round carp killer.

A very nice variation. The original pattern I found in Trout has been long-standing favorite of mine. Bergman had nothing but praise for the fly.

In fact, I think he mentions it in the text more often than any other single fly.
