It's a beautiful day here today. Perfect for taking pictures so I figured I would go for a walk with Doug's flies. They are beautiful. If I was to describe Doug's ties I would say neat, consistent, just the right amount of materials. Even the flies with the flash are not too flashy!
Here they are. If he has the time maybe he will describe them for us. Four of Doug's beautiful flies with a bakelite HI National Sportsman reel.
Hope everyone is having a good day!

I had to come up with something special for Doug's flies. The reel is an anniversary present from the hubby. The line is a double taper silk line with original finish, not sticky yet. Hopefully a little polishing and it will be serviceable for a while.
It is a beautiful day, warm (for the end of October) and dry. There were even butterflies out, but they wouldn't hold still for a portrait.

Thanks Hank. Thanks Wayne.
No it isn't even though that would have been a good idea. It would look fantastic on that stick. It was actually on an old Heddon 10 (probably mid 30's). Just feeling guilty 'cause I hadn't had it out yet this year since I built that other one.
I really like taking pics using the old rods and reels. There is still a lot of appreciation for them. Plus I have a thing for their blue collar qualities and the idea that they were for every man ... or woman.
