Golden Peacock

Post by Old Hat » Wed Feb 15, 2012 6:02 pm

While visiting a shop outside Portland, Oregon I came across something I couldn't pass up. Peacock dyed golden.

So hence the Golden Peacock

Hook: old mustad, (3399A, I think)
Thread: pearsalls silk thread, brown
Body: Spirit River brand peacock dyed golden stonefly twisted with silk thread
Hackle: speckled badger variant

I hate it when I think I'm buying organic vegetables, and when I get home I discover they are just regular donuts.

VERY nice! Great photo too! Does the peacock still have some iridescence?

Yes, quite a bit, just couldn't pull it out in the picture without blowing out parts of the photo. New camera, so it's a trial and error thing at the moment. If you look closely you can see some of the effect across the back of the fly.

Mark, you do? I don't know how I missed peacock dyed in different colors. Maybe people mostly dye their own. I won't turn any down, that's for sure. If you feel like using that Prairie Chicken, go for it! I would love to see what you tye with it. :D

That's pretty cool stuff, don't remember ever seeing that color. I like colors like that cuz the fly is easy to find when I drop it on the ground while i'm trying to tie it on. I keep telling my wife I need a 23 year old fishing partner (blond) to help me do these things.

It's not working :(

Really nice looking tie.
