Donald, really nice results. I have given up on the flatbed, but you look like you have it figured. Nice choice of quartet, that March Brown Nymph is a neat looking tie.

For me it's a toss-up--love the March Brown, but I know some deep runs where that WB would catch the baleful eye of some biggish browns.

Donald - wonderful ties, that March Brown really catches my eye.
I've tried the scanner thing, but was never happy with the results. I think you have it tamed. Great images.

Those are very nice images, Donald. Like chase creek and others, I have tried using a scanner with discouraging results, so I am especially impressed by your success.

I like these, both the ties, and the scans. As you know, I like the white backgrounds, so these seem better than the earlier dark ones with the lid partly open.
Sorry to hear that Tie2fish and ChaseCreek have had bad results with their scanners. I wonder if it is simply a matter of the settings?
The two key things are to turn off all the so-called image-enhancement software settings such as dust removal, tone balance, and sharpening, and to use your highest hardware scan resolution. Inferior brands such as HP make this devilishly difficult to do, but Epson and Canon scanners are much more user-friendly.
Hardware resolution means the actual sampling rate, in dots-per-inch, of the sensor. Most scanners also offer fake resolution enhancement through interpolation. The fake enhancement just increases the image, making it bigger in Mb, but not adding any new detail information.

Donald, I'm stunned. These images really show the refinement of your flies and detail that we haven't seen before. Just wonderful to see. Thanks so much for sharing this.
Unfortunately...I'm stuck with an HP and my scans are not coming out so well. Glad to see you guys making this work.
