Stefan was describing the hackle for this is named "Iron Dun" and you can see within the dark/medium dun, some bronze and variation. Another very nice offering. Cool red tag.

Nicely done. The fishies sure won't be able to miss this one!

I have always meant to do a red tag styled fly. I hear they are good too. You did a great job on this one.

Stefan - Wonderful dressing. That short shanked hook is nicely complimented by the body/tail/hackle. Beautifully balanced proportions. The fact that it is a fish slayer is icing on the cake.
Please keep sharing your creations...
Willam - Once again, thank you for photographing Stefan's flies and posting them for us to enjoy.

This one I tied using Pearsall's Marabou Floss for the first time. Just wanted to know what it looked like. I always use red wool for my tags and will continue to do so. I prefer the more translucent quality of wool. I don't remember what hook I used. William; is it straight or reversed or kirbed? I like the proportions for a Red Tag fly. The hackle is from my absolute favourite rooster cape from Margrete Thomsens stash. The label on the back says "Iron Dun" and the colour is incredibly rich. It is an ordinary but selected Indian rooster cape. The price on label is the highest I have seen on her capes. In his fly tying book, Preben Torp Jacobsen listed her first as materials supplier. It would have been interesting to meet her.
