New (or rather old) materials arrived

Post by Stendalen » Thu Oct 06, 2011 10:10 am

Hi
Got hold of some old materials, mostly old Veniard stuff and Gossamer silk.

For example:
Snipe, Woodcock, waterhen. Gaelic supreme spider hooks, partridge singel limerick hooksThen a lot of Gossamer silk. Don't know if the numbers are right, got hold of 6b (says Sherry Spinner on the spool) Golden olive (11) is really niceas is Straw (2) and Ash (10). Will post some flies later on.

Take care

Martin

Looks like Christmas morning in my dreams! I have many of the same materials, but I am still coveting your new materials. Do not turn your back, if I am around...I don't trust myself... :D

Just currious, what is the white patch of fur? I can make out the word "Silver", but not the second word. Is it silver fox?

If you want to check the Pearsall's numbers, you can download and use the reference chart that Stefan (daringduffer) and I created. Here is a link to the reference chart:

Thanks for letting me know Ray, I will not let you in my house.

The white is Silver Mink.

The place I found is a goldmine, an old warehouse full of tying material

Thanks again. Checked out the reference chart, just what I was looking for, the ones I've found with Google have not been the same.

The 6b is hard to come by I have heard. The "warehouse" apparently have a lot of them ;) (and lots and lots of other old stuff). Going there to check things out in the near future...guess I will have to spend a couple of days there :D

Cheers

That's an impressive stash to score, sir; the Pearsall's Ash Gossamer is an especially nice find.
