Bill - I managed to find my midge tubing and try my hand at replicating your fly. After a half hour of wrestling with a piece of Krystal Flash and the tubing I gave up. I just couldn't get the darned thing thru the piece of tubing. It kept getting stuck. I sighed and though to myself, "Bill, your a cruel cruel man." (humor). I then looked to our friend Wayne's wire core caddis and found hope. A few minutes later I managed to get a piece of copper wire threaded thru the tubing. Here is my attempt at following your lead. (Thanks for having my back, Wayne. ;))

Honey Dun / Copper Cored Caddis
Hook - Tiemco/TMC Model 2487 / Size 10
Thread - 8/0 UNI-Thread (Tan)
Abdomen - Midge Tubing (Clear) with UTC Ultra Wire copper core (Amber)
Underbody - 8/0 UNI-Thread (Tan)
Thorax - Three strands of peacock herl (dyed brown) reinforced in a thread dubbing loop
Hackle - Honey Dun Hen Cape (natural)

Bill - In all seriousness, I was impressed when I saw your fly, but now that I have tried to tye it myself, I am doubly impressed. You make it look easy.

Ray,

That is an absolute killer variation. There is nothing about this fly I don't like. I gotta get ma a trout pic as a background. That looks way cool.

Ray, Howdy;

Likein' what ya did!!!

Photo rocks as well. Between the trout pic and the vise, makes it look as if the trout is hooked in his/her
steel jaw !!!!!

Did ya plan it that way or ............ ?

Here is a fly I might have called a seatrout fly but I suppose it is really
a large caddis pupa. Well it is dressed on Sedge/Caddis hook.
Hook- size 8 Partridge YK12ST Caddis hook.
Thread- Fluo Yellow
Body- Orange Spanflex ribbed with Hot Yellow wire then coated with Sally Hansen.
Thorax- Dark Brown 'Possum.

Beautiful fly, Donald. What hackle did you use? The hackle is missing from the recipe.

Mark - the honey dun hackle is from a Collins hen set I bought from Great Feathers. The fish is from a watercolor painting by James Prosek.
