I like Sally Hansen's Hard as Nails. It's easy to find, not overly expensive, and thins easily with acetone from the hardware store.

Me too. When I use it, which isn't the majority of the time. Also, if I'm feeling skittish about the finish wicking into the hackle fibers, I apply it to the thread hanging below the eye before making the whip finish. Like I said earlier regarding scissors/blades, I like pretty fine tying thread so I can get a 5-7 wrap whip finish and get a head that is proportional for the eye and hook size. (flattened if needed).

Loon Outdoors' head cement. Also sometimes use Sally Hansen's, but the odor bothers me.

Confirmed it with Griffin ... they no longer make the head cement.

Yes, they didn't warn anyone or anything. Don Bastian told me, and I freaked. I tried to find some right after that, and good luck with that. I did score some, but don't think it will last that long. I am very disappointed, as I use that stuff everyday.

You know guys I don't use anything. If the thread is waxed it stays in place with three wraps. If not then I may do two turn twice.

I make two whipfinishes and let the tag-end 1 mm. If I use lead under the body I use lac(?) It is the tranparant nail poliish lack with a bit aceton to make it thinner. I use it in a kind of botle with a hollow needle.
