Couple of flies

Hook: lightning strike nymph/wet size 14
Thread: Uni olive 8/0
Tail/body/wing case: olive dyed pheasant tail, I wonder if the fish can even see a wing case behind the hackle but sometimes I like to add it.
Hackle: brown hen

I didn't use a rib and when I use materials like pheasant tail without a rib, I will add head cement to the thread on the hook before wrapping my body


Hook: gamakatsu octopus size 8
Thread: UNI white 8/0
Tail and body: turkey tail
Body hackle: brown CDC trimmed
Rib: brown vinyl
Thorax: brown and olive rabbit fur
Hackle: brown hen



Hook partridge size 16
Thread: hot pink
Body: pink and Orange dub with pearl UTC tinsel
Rib: red vinyl under the tinsel
Thorax: black ostrich herl and a hot pink beast yen a small amount of peacock herl behind the hackle
Hackle: partridge

Right on. That profile in that size would be a killer nymph bumpin around northern PA this week. Beautiful tie.

No real reason for not using a rib. I wanted to keep the fly drab with no flash or sparkle but I could have used a rib that doesn't have any shine. But usally when I want to keep the fly from having any shine to it anywhere I will just do it this way. But really don't have much of a reason.

I was just wondering if you'd seen something that I haven't. I'll apply cement under herl when I need to, but I find a rib to be much easier -- and you can always use the tag end of the tying thread as a rib if you're concerned about flash.

Beautiful flies Dan. I am especially fond of the pheasant tail soft hackle nymph.
