OK, So I Lied

Post by tie2fish » Mon Mar 07, 2011 9:08 am

Dubbn's "Muskrat Flymph" and the wonderful story he gave us about its history has inspired me to try yet another flymph-style dressing. The hackle isn't brown like his, but it's not just a grey dun either. The identification on the packaging from Collins calls it "Iron Dun", so that will make this an ...

I've not fished flymphs previously, but you can be certain that these will get a thorough testing once the weather, water levels, and bug populations in these parts improve.

It's almost time. The temp will rise. Why would this be the last flymph...I thought this would be the fist of...hundreds. especially after you start to fish them and NEED a pattern for each hatch. You'll be posting flymphs for a long time. (big smiley)

VERY nice tye Bill.....LOVE it. Charlie Collins is a very nice guy and always has incredably good deals......in terms of what you get (neck and saddle in one package) with him, for the money.....and the quality, you can never go wrong buying Collins hackle. ;)

You tie very very nice flys. Great choice of materials! As pleasing to the eye as your flys are, the thing I notice first is the neat, tiny head you have on your Soft Hackles. A Hallmark of a first class pattern. Well done.

i can certantly understand that........he's always been very helpful, polite, freely giving of his knowledge, and fair. One year at Somerset they had this Hackle Round Table program..........it was SOOOOO cool.....and it was PACKED with tyers attending. Charlie, Ted Rogowski (Joan Wulff's husband and Tom Whiting's lawyer) representing Whiting, Henry Hoffman, Bill Keogh, and maybe one or two more............it was like the Rat Pack of hackle growers.....and they all did talks and Ted showed a slide show of "The Farm" (in Colorado), and Tom's birds.....and then they took questions from the audience for bout 40 minutes..........man, that was just great. Info flyin' everywhere.......... ;)
Henry Hoffman done forgot (NOT!), more stuff than any ten guys will ever know combined...........that cat is a GAS to talk with.
Whenever i can, i always sit at the same table with him at a dinner.....and just listen.....he's got the coolest stories. i was there when he recieved his Buz Buseck award......he was truely humbled. But he was SOO deserving, and you'da thought he didn't think so. Amazing guy.......
