The original Ice Breaker is tyed with the bead . I dont tie beads on mot of my flys, but a good part of the time whie fishing I do slide a bead up the tippet and then tie my flymph on. The bead settles in front of the fly and looks like it is a part of the pattern. That way the fly does not have to be just a nymph. It can also be an emerger, a dead adult, and with enough grease, a dry by simply removing the bead from the tippet.

JohnP, I agree. The Prince is BIG medicine here as well. For me, it is another pattern that can do double duty by simply sliding a bead ahead of it. It's a pretty easy way of trying different colored beads as well.

Thankx for the reminder Wayne.......i read where you spoke of that before and Vicki said she'd start carryin' beads with her from now on. i gotta try that idea............gotta take less time to slide one on a tippet than include one in a recipe too. :D
