Tan Llama and French Partridge

Post by tie2fish » Fri Jun 24, 2011 3:01 pm

Trying to find ways to use llama; here I've treated it pretty much like herl.

Hook: Daiichi 1710, #14
Thread: Uni-Thread 8/0, rusty brown
Hackle: French partridge upper covert
Tag and underbody: Liberally waxed thread
Rib: Tan llama fur "noodled" and twisted tightly with thread loop prior to palmering forward
Head: Waxed thread

Very nice way to handle the body. That's convincing as about 10 species. I like the coordination of materials too. Nicely done.

Very nice! I like how you let the thread under-body show between the llama noodle body. Makes for a great segmentation.

WOW! that's VERY unique and EXTREMELY buggy. Hackle that sparse blows my mind.......i cannot imagin any fish that would not be fooled by that. ;)

I'm really liking the llama bodies. Long fibred dubbing is a challenge to work with but once you 'get' it it's awesome to work with and amazing results. Patience is definitely a virtue here!

Glad to hear that Misa approves, as I value her opinions; aesthetics transcends geography :)
