Thanks for elaborating....I've stood in one spot and caught a dozen "creel-sized" fish out of the same plunge pool, so I might have to save the full silk treatment for special occasions.

Jon - Another option may be a small drop of Loon's product called "UV Knot Sense". You could add a little drop on the silk, spread it around evenly and then expose the fly to a UV light source (i.e. - the sun, or one of Loon's small UV lamps). Worth trying anyways...

I'm coming to this one late, but this is something I could fill my box with. (in case you're wondering what to get me for christmas. ) That hackel looks really rich. It's a nice combination and as always a nice effect on the body.

Ray I was looking at this pic again. I was admiring the tag because I love anything copper but when I read the recipe it reads gold mylar. Maybe it's just my screen. Anyway it looks great with copper.

Vicki - I need to look at the fly again when I get home. You are probably right. I have a spool of tinsel that is copper color on one side and blue on the other. I may have used that to create this fly. Good eyes! Thanks for keeping me honest.

Mine too. crawling with aggressive venomous snakes, year around. You wouldn't like my waters anyway...best just avoid them all together.
