Hidy-hey, Hidy-ho

Post by CreationBear » Tue Aug 16, 2011 9:39 am

A generic Hidy/Leisenring flymph, but I'm really digging chukkar these days...it's not banded/speckled of course, but to my eyes the colors look right for any number of mayflies. Not that my dumb little trout would ever tell me, but it would be interesting to know what the real trigger is. :)

Absolutely gorgeous!

It's a neat bird--don't you tie some "chukkar sulphurs" yourself? Those slate shoulder/neck hackles seem to have real possibilities--though the latter might tax my fine motor skills a bit. :)

Ha, thanks guys...it was fun to experiment with Leisenring bodies, too, though I suppose I shouldn't have used my wife's apron to "spin" the noodles on.:) What can I say, here in the South I'm used to wearing shorts around the house... I figure I have until Thanksgiving morning when she goes to make her pumpkin pies to figure out how to remove all the wax and dubbing residue...

Jon - This is remarkable, in all respects! This pattern is so graceful. The photograph captures the beautiful impression of a mayfly.
