EDIT - After studying the photos a bit, I think this fly would look better if the head was formed with wine-colored tying thread, instead of the black that I used.
Ray - you are a ray of sunshine in our world. I'm home, fighting the flu, and trying to catch up on the forum. I don't find it anal to agree with your edit. Please post it when you eventually have t(r)ied it that way. I suppose I will hear christmas carols when I watch it...

Yet another lovely work of art -- I seriously hope you are keeping a file of the recipes and photos you've been posting Ray, 'cause sooner or later a publisher is going to come calling.

Another exquisite tie my friend. I'm with tie2fish on the publishing front, it's only a matter of time. You should seriously consider a tying book, you've got oodles of talent mate, it would take pride and place in my tying library next to all the other greats past and present. :D

Damn! Snap! You are a wizard with the silk. That is one magnificent fly. Publish. Publish. Publish. You can use Blurp.com to self publish a book at very cheep prices. I just published a 440 page novel I wrote with my 94 year old day and it came out perfectly. They specialize in photo books.

I'll take an advanced copy if your publisher is ready.

The skill here is unmatched. and delicious.

Ray, that fly exudes a festive aura. It is truly magnificent. I love claret, and I loved your materials, and workmanship. Outstanding work Ray, LOVED IT.

Dang, Ray. I'm playing catch-up on the forum and run across this. It's a beauty! Claret is one of my favorite colors in a fly so you had me there already, but the tying is impeccable.

Thanks guys.

Mark R. - Believe me, I am not snoozing on the book idea. The book idea has been a pipe dream of mine for a couple years. I have been quietly gathered together my fly patterns (almost 400 to date)/photos/tying instructions into a single document (backed-up in many locations - of course). At some point, I need to approach a publisher, to see if this can be assembled into a book of some sort. The problem is that I would rather spend my time relaxing, tying flies, photographing them and sharing them on-line. The hard part would be finding the time to deal with a publisher, and working one revisions/edits/etc. I have worked with editors on a heat transfer instruction manuals and lawyers for patent application process in the past, so I know the drill. Just need to make up my mind to do it... Maybe I should make a 2012 New Years Resolution...
