Thanks Donald. I just looked thru all of the information you've added. Your site continues to become more and more valuable with each addition. Thank you for taking the time to make this available on the internet.

PS - Congratulations Roadkill. Donald has used your work flies as examples on his site. If that is not recognition, I don't know what is!

As I have said to Donald, I am honored to be included on his marvelous site. I have long admired his artistic labor of love for the wealth of information and beautiful presentations that he provides for the rest of us interested in Flymphs, Soft Hackles... and their history.

Donald, fascinating patterns. Thank you for adding them to your site. I did not see photos but the 3 Purple Midges. They were beautiful. If there are photos, I did not see a link.

Hi Donald,

Tied the winter brown and the willowfly:

69. Winter Brown.
Silk: Orange.
Body: Hot Orange silk.
Head: Magpie green herl.
Hackle: Woodcock under-wing

(Had difficulties with the Magpie herl)

68. Willow Fly.
Silk: Yellow.
Body: Grey squirrel and yellow fur mixed.
Hackle: Blue grizzle cock.

Both flies tied on a Drennan super specialist # 10

Both flies are EXCELLENT Ruard. i like the effect you got with that Magpie herl.

Both of those are excellent, Ruard. I think the "flymph style" hackle on the Willow Fly is especially well done.

Hi Ruard,
There is a technique for herl heads on flies which is shown on a
saved article from a magazine I have somewhere, I'm I afraid it may be buried
on a CD somewhere. I have not tried it myself but I'll find it and e-mail it when found.
I have not dressed any flies for this article myself yet,
there are three patterns,
the 3 - #23 Purple Midge by roadkill and
two by tie2fish, #3 Brown Watchet and #21 Brown Shiner.
I post both of yours on the site, if you decide to alter the Winter Brown
I can substitute, do not regard this as a critism of your fly,
I cannot do herl heads and you have done better than me.
I have just remembered the herl head tip is by Oliver Edwards, hope I can find it.
Maybe I'll learn to do it myself now.
