Got in some new yarn a few days ago and finally got time to play with it.
Snipe & Purple Haze
Hook: Daiichi 1550 size 14
Hackle: Snipe
Thread: Pearsall's Gossamer Purple
Body: Jamieson's Shetland Spindrift Purple Haze yarn
First fly I tied with it was a fatter bodied soft hackle with a partridge back feather (no photo available) which proved to be surprisingly effective for trout and bluegills (and a tree).

Great fly Chris! I love the look of that yarn. I gotta get an order in to you soon. I "need" some of this yarn.
I got a good laugh out of your "and a tree" comment. Funny.

That's a beauty, Chris. Is that yarn separable into smaller strands that could be used on, say, a Size 20 hook?

I don't have any size 20 hooks (and not enough natural light).
Starling & Purple Haze
Hook: Daiichi 1110 size 26
Hackle: Starling
Thread: Gordon Griffiths 14/0, black
Body: Jamieson's Shetland Spindrift Purple Haze yarn, one strand pulled tight.

Chris, this is another cool yarn. I would imagine the purple would be a nice addition to the selection. I have an ever explanding appreciation for all the buggy yarns. I'll be curious to hear how these fish for you.
