Thread: Sheer 14/0, olive
Hackle: From neck area of French partridge
Tail: Blue dun hen hackle
Body: Olive turkey biot, notch forward for raised rib effect
Thorax: Spectrumized synthetic dubbing

I like this one a lot. You've masterfully applied a good deal of material onto a rather small hook, and produced a slim profiled fly. Beautifully tied.

Boris, the Hungarian is the grey partridge, the French is a bit differently coloured, I have some flank feathers here somewhere....... Her in NZ the introduced, wild French partridge is referred to as a Chukar. A simple google search should show you the difference.

Oh yes! This is a very nice fly. I have tied something similar but with a brown body. I think I'll tie a few like this now. Thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks to you all for your comments. Ray and William, I also much look forward to our next tye-fest, and thank you Jeff for pointing Boris in right direction on his "partridge" question. As Ariel suggests, biots are available in a multitude of colors, so one can use them to imitate virtually any mayfly. Roadkill's reference to Rene Harrop's BWO patterns is an excellent one, and if you have access to his videos, you'll quickly see that this pattern did not originate with yours truly. REE, I'd love to be able to tie this on, say, a Size 20 hook, but you're absolutely right about the number of components being a challenge ... at least for me.
