Black Rabbit

After following JohnL's thread about Silver it made me think. I really do not use alot of patterns with Silver in them. The one that cames to mind is the IceBreaker, but I have not had Silver beads in a few years, so I omit the bead when I tye them.

Black? Another color I do not use alot of. Normally I just use it to mix with other shades of dubbing. Normally I buy Black Zonker strips from the discount bin at the Sporting Goods store. If you keep your eyes open you can get strips for a buck a package. Anyhow,,,, I am out of Black Zonker Strips, so I bought a Black Hares Mask for 3 dollars Friday.

I will be using more Black, and more Silver for a while. I wanna give Johns idea a chance. I know, its ribbing and not a bead. I hope the trout I am targeting are not that choosy.

Black Rabbit:

Hook - Mustad 3906B size 14
Thread 14/0 sheer, Black
Tail - Black Hares Mask
Ribbing - Mylar Tinsel, Silver
Body - Black Hares Mask. Teased out at the Thorax
Collar - India Hen Cape, Black

Sorry folks. After looking at the pattern it was obvious that it was not forum worthy.

Dubbn,
I mostly tie fishing flies and this is a nice fly and it should work well if you have black stonefly nymphs in your water. Very similar to a black marabou nymph I tie for Whitefish.

I vary both the color, shape, and width of the flash on some of my flies and sometimes it makes the difference. ;)

Oh....I'm feeling so robbed. Wayne, I put up the good, and the less resolved flies all the time. I love to see what you come up with.

Wayne, put the photo up mate. Lord knows I have been guilty (and still am) at posting some pretty average photos and tying's, but within this group of nice men and women- you are not going to be ridiculed by a one. None of us fell into tying and created show-pieces straight off, most of us tie honest fishing flies first and foremost.
If you ask for critique, you might get it, but in a very positive form. Usually we are our own worst critic, you might be surprised what you think unworthy the rest of us might like..... or at least get some ideas we can steal off of it!

Wayne,
I saw that fly before it disappeared, and thought it looked great.
