Very interesting pattern. I am interested in the Mustad 3121 that this fly is tied on.
Yes, indeed up eye hooks. Is this similar to Mustads 94842? Or did it replace it perhaps?
And if it did, is the quality better (hook point, barb size, shape of the bend, length of hook shank)? In other words, how does one compare to the other? Sometimes, the 94842 seems a little short in the shank. Still a great one though when you go to tie flymphs as Leisenring and Hidy did many years ago!

Considerably different than the 94842. The 3121 is an older model that can be found here and there at times on the net. I got mine from a site that had some in bulk (had to buy at least 500). I really like the hook. It is much heavier than that the 94842 which is sold as a dry fly hook. It also sports the limerick bend which I am fond of for no other reason than looks. Definitely a quality hook if you like this style.
