Taking a break from "technical" spiders, here's a variation on a pattern that Fogg says came from Wales. Lacking true claret seal and hen hackle, I've dressed this fly using firey brown instead, so the result is more reddish-brown than the original reddish-purple shade.

Hook: 10-14 (Daiichi 1550, #12)
Thread: Claret tying silk (Pearsall's Gossamer #14)
Hackle: A double hackle of brown speckled partridge back and firey brown hen (partridge nearest the eye)
Rib: Small gold oval braid tinsel
Body: Firey brown seal

That's a really smart composition. It's nice the way the two hackles worked out. Very nicely done.

Very nice result, there are some interesting variations of
the 'March Brown' in Courtney Williams Trout Dictionary.
He gives several regional variations for the UK, as well as,
if I remember rightly a couple for NZ and Aussie.
If they are winged they can easily be modified as Spider/Flymphs.
