Fore & Aft Flymph

willowhead has asked us to think outside the box on numerous threads. Here is a thought for many on this forum for the New Year. How many flymphers have tied fore and aft flies? Here is a simple Coyote flymph fore and aft tied on a #10 9672 Mustad. The hackles are hen and the body is coyote dubbing ribbed with gold twist.



Sorry about the photo quality but this is taken on vacation holding my camera on a coffee mug tripod.

I like the old fore and aft style and tie it in many dry and wet flies. I encourage anyone to try 2 not just one soft hackle next year.

No way to argue with the logic here. This is certainly a productives style and points for creativity/adaption. Great looking fly and a serious pattern to add. Kudos on the challenge. I'm in...soon.

The Renegade....The only fly my buddies can tie on their leader and compete with me and my Muskrat Flymph. One heck of a pattern!

Renegades fished wet or dry have been a favorite in my boxes for over fifty years. My first go to dries were the Renegade or a Mosquito.

Here's another vote for the Renegade as one of the great all-time fish-catchers. Stands to reason a similarly tied flymph would work as well.

I have never fished any of the flies mentioned about, but will change that in 2012. I'd love to try some of these in Roscoe, come June.

Funny how we are starting to think alike. I made one earlier, with a tenkara front, and a small hen hackle in the back... the idea was good...but I had the wrong hook for it. The fly almost looked like a bomber, but it was a weird hybrid...I just tied two today. Anyway, I bet this fly does wonders on the water for you.

The Renegade is an all-time great fly for sure. Very popular in the Catskill and the Poconos.........your fly above is wonderful.....cause it's so buggy and attractive. i can't imagine a fish not goin' for it. Looks like candy. LOVE your idea for fore & aft flymphs.....that's creative thinkin'. i'll be postin' something soon.....here. Hope to see this thread become another on-goer.
